iPhone5.. Rumor or Reality?

  For all of you MacHeads, Gadget innovators, or Iphone users i’m sure you all have heard the iphone5 release date rumors about Oct 11′ and all the buzz. It for one thing has drove me crazy and I’ve kinda developed a love/hate relationship with iPhone 5 rumors. Yes, there’s always a few months before any Apple product is announced where the Internet is a flurry of “what ifs” and speculation about what the new product will entail. We love hearing all the iPhone 5 rumors because it gives us something to dream about while we await the announcement, which was initially set for October 4. As I saw yesterday, some people even go so far as to compile all the rumors and actually build a mock-up of what they think the iPhone 5 will look like. Its insane and we love it, but heres the scoop. Development has started and release dates have been postponed due to a few kinks. Now i’m sure you all know about the kinks that come with the “first batch” of iphone’s released and  some of you always wait until a few weeks or months have passed to purchase the “kink-less” ones right? Well the word is apple is doing a few major test so there won’t be that first wave of faulty phones.

On the other hand, we sometimes hate hearing about iPhone 5 rumors because, let’s face it; there are way too many tiny rumors to process every day. The fact is that the second the iPhone 4 was announced in June of 2010, we already were hearing rumors about the iPhone 5. What it comes down to is a whole lot of iPhone 5 rumors. As we saw yesterday, the life of an Apple rumor also usually falls into a few of the same categories and follows the same kind of life cycle, so they can get a bit boring after a while.

If you haven’t been following the life cycle of iPhone 5 rumors, from June of 2010 until now, there’s a lot you have missed.  So I rounded some up last month, but the good people over at AllAreaCodes have created a very informative infographic. Looking at pictures is always more fun than reading, right? Whether you prefer picture books to books with more words than pictures, this infographic will help you understand where we’ve been in the last 16 months.

Categorized by “Fact,” “Rumor,” and “Correction,” AllAreaCodes is hoping the infographic will help you “separate the fact from the fiction.” Check out the infographic below and let me know what you think. We’ve also seen case leaks that are pretty awesome and have led me to believe the iPhone 5 may have a 3G-like body but with a larger screen and buttonless design. We’ve also seen leaked photos of what the front of the iPhone 5 may look like, which cancels the rumor that the phone will have a 4-inch screen. Leaked photos of an iPhone 5 screen protector also suggest an elongated home button and a larger body. As you can see, there are tons of rumors, and it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all of them, which is where the mock-up comes in handy.

Built out of aluminum and glass, the mock-up shows the iPhone 5 to be thinner than its predecessors and also wider. The mock-up does have a 4-inch display, instead of the current 3.5-inch display. The Home buttons is also no longer a physical button, but instead is a capacitive “button.” It’s rectangular in shape, and would allow you to slide your finger from one end to the other. Rumor has it that you’ll be able to use swipe gestures, so commonly used in Apple products, to navigate around pages. You’ll also be able to unlock your phone by just sliding your finger over the Home button. The phone’s aluminum body will have rounded edges, which will feel much natural and comfortable while holding in your hand.

As for the internal features, the phone will use the A5 CPU that the iPad currently uses. It will have double the RAM, going from 512 MB to 1GB. We’ve known this for a while, as well as that the iPhone 5 will ditch its 5-megapixel rear-facing camera for an 8-megapixel camera.The mock-up looks pretty spectacular, and we’re hoping the new iPhone will look somewhat close to this Iphone 4s type of deal but much better, either way I found an offer that looked interesting to try to actually test and keep the Iphone 5 so here it is, enjoy!
